- : I assume when you mention 8n1 and AmiTCP you mean 8n1 and AmiTCP w/ a PPP or
- : SLIP Sana2 driver. What baud rates are you trying to achieve with this
- : combination? In other words, how fast is fast?
- :
- : Most comments I have seen dealing with choice of serial drivers generally
- : prefer the artser.device implementation. It is reported as being a bug fixed
- : serial.device which also shows some speed improvement. The artser.device can
- : be found at Aminet.

- I just have to butt in here, but I am in the proccess of trying out version
- 37.13, and SO FAR it seems to be quite stable(see my setup below). I have
- ALWAYS had problems with 8n1 crashing WITHIN 10 minutes of starting my
- connection(no exaggeration), but here I am -- 4 *hours* into the connection.
-
- (although I am still crossing my fingers on both hands, while crossing my legs
- AND arms, AND knocking on wood :-))))
-
- I'm being very superstitious because this sucker(8n1) is *BLAZINGLY FAST!*, not
- so much in actual tranfer speeds(athough it does SEEM to be a little faster
- than the artser.device I have been using), but in machine overhead. My entire
- sytem is no longer bogged down while online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
- The 8n1 device used to crash so quickly that I didn't even notice the systemwide
- speed increase. I just HOPE that writing this message doesn't jinx my use
- of the 8n1.device, because if my machine starts crashing and I have to go back
- to artser.device again, I think I might ACTUALLY cry my eyes out!
-
-
-
- (Maybe it's just EXTREMELY picky about the setup it's running with???
- I dunno?)
